FARMINGDALE, NY, August 13, 2010 – Competing at the NRA National Match held at Camp Perry, Ohio, World Champion Shooter, Carl Bernosky won High Civilian in the High Power Rifle Championship category. The match, shot over a course of four days tests competitors shooting abilities in the standing, prone or sitting position. The distances for the course of fire are 200 yards standing position, 200 yards of rapid fire sitting, 300 yards of rapid fire in the prone position and 600 yards of slow fire shot prone for a possible grand score of 2400. Carl topped last year’s score of 2386-125x by shooting a 2395-140x despite dealing with Lake Erie’s fluctuating weather and the constant threat of showers.

When Carl’s not competing in title matches as a top contender or representing the industry shooting at venues, he can be found in Pennsylvania, building customized rifles for shooting enthusiasts worldwide. Knowing the importance of having high quality equipment is critical in precision shooting; Carl wears SunBuster Sport Enhancement Eyewear. “When I’m shooting downrange at targets I use the Pink Vermillion lenses because they sharpen the contrast of the bright white targets and when I’m scoring targets, I switch out my lenses to the Crimson Brown to provide my eyes with a rest from the intensity of the sun. This year, I added SunBuster’s prescription patented inserts to my glasses with the bifocal location at the bottom of the lens and the top was set up for arm length to get the focal length for the sight radius.”

Steve Asman, SunBuster’s president said, “Shooters like Carl recognize how comfortable our interchangeable eyewear is for all day use and as lighting conditions change and affect shooters ability, SunBuster ColorCorrect™ lenses make the difference. Carl’s headed to the World NRA Action Pistol match in October and we’ll be following him closely.”

SunBuster has designed The Maverick™ and The Dude™, two lightweight frames specifically designed for the shooter. Both models provide a comfortable fit for all-day wearing. Each model includes an interchangeable lens system of five lenses scientifically created to enhance and maximize the shooter’s ability to perform under different lighting and target presentations in competitive shooting. The first lens system is the Pistol/Indoor system and the second is the Shooting/Hunting system. Each system offers a patented, lightweight, rimless insert, which sits behind the lens, available in a wide range of prescriptions. Additional custom colored lenses are available to add to either of the systems for enhanced levels of shooting.

FARMINGDALE, NY, August 8, 2010 – The NRA Whittington Center provided the scenic backdrop for the JP Rocky Mountain 3-Gun Championship recently held in Raton, New Mexico. With a field of 170 fellow Law Enforcement officers to compete against, World Champion shooter, Bruce Piatt won the Top Law Enforcement Officer Limited Scope Division for the second time. Some of the nine stages, which were timed out at four minutes, included 20 long range rifle targets and 40 steel and paper targets set out 150 to 600 yards. While the weather was a cool and comfortable 80 degrees, with intermittent thunderstorms, it was the 6,000 foot elevation that challenged competitors breathing and affected the trajectory of the ammunition, as the flight of the bullet does not drop as much at higher elevations.

Piatt commented, “As an accuracy shooter, I really enjoy long range rifle shots and at this match, some were out to 600 yards making them very challenging. Overall the match was physically demanding, with many of the stages set amongst the cliffs of New Mexico’s mountainside. Because some of the targets were set up near trees and under the shadows of the tree canopy, wearing my SunBuster clear lenses made the difference in locating the targets more easily, while those that were out in the open, I wore my Crimson Brown lenses because they diminish the intense bright sunlight.”

Steve Asman, SunBuster’s president said, “It’s no surprise that Bruce’s success as a multi-disciplined shooter continues to earn him the top slot amongst his peers. He’s a terrific competitor who brings so much to the sport that we’re glad he’s a part of the SunBuster story. Bruce’s competition season continues with the USPSA Multi-gun Nationals and the World NRA Action Pistol match, so it’s not over yet and we wish him well.”

FARMINGDALE, NY, June 13, 2010 – World Champion shooter, Bruce Piatt won the Two Man and Three Man Team Event in the Open Division of the 2010 Sportsman’s Team Challenge National Championships for the fourth year in a row. Piatt commented, “SunBuster’s Orange Plus lenses definitely had a positive impact when I was shooting on cloudy days; the clay targets just popped out against the background and were so much easier to see. I switched to the Clear lens when I was shooting the metal targets because the clarity and distortion free vision that SunBuster lenses provide, give me that added edge.”

Steve Asman, SunBuster’s president said, “The Massey family is passionate in organizing the Sportsman Team Challenge so both professional shooters and recreational shooters can experience this multi-gun event. We congratulate Bruce as he continues to dominate the Two Man National Title along with fellow teammate Robert Massey. FARMINGDALE, NY, December 6, 2009 – World Champion shooter, Bruce Piatt competed in the 2009 Fort Benning 3-Gun Challenge, hosted by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Now in its fifth year the event was held at the Brinson Range Action Shooting Complex. To add to the excitement of the match, competitors were driven to one of the nine challenging stages in the match in a Stryker Fighting Vehicle, each named after divisions within the Army.

Piatt won the Army’s first time event called the Man-On-Man 3-Gun shoot off. Taking the top four shooters in the Tactical Optics, top two shooters in the Open, the top shooter in Tactical Iron and Heavy Metal division, shooters competed head-to-head using guns provided by match sponsors.

Shooting a shotgun at 8 static clay targets at 12 yards, a rifle at six 8" steel plates at 125 yards, and finishing with a pistol at six 8" steel targets at 10 yards. Knocking out one shooter after another, Bruce's reward for winning the shoot-off was one of the rifles they used in the event and a chance to get warm.

Commenting on Georgia’s unusual weather Piatt said, “Each day shooters were bundled up due to the cold temperatures in the high 20’s which made it more challenging to manipulate the ammo and work the gun. I was extremely pleased to be back participating and winning the first time shoot off in addition to winning 4th place in the Tactical Optics division, which consisted of 200 shooters. Wearing SunBuster’s Crimson Brown lenses really made a difference in assisting me to pick up and locate the targets easier at stage nine because I was shooting directly into the sun with the last hours of daylight.”

Steve Asman, SunBuster’s president said, “Bruce understands the importance of having equipment that will enhance his shooting abilities and maximize his visual acuity with SunBuster’s ShotReader lenses. Bruce’s glasses are fitted with our lightweight prescription insert and depending on the lighting conditions; he can easily change out to any of our customized colored lenses to meet his needs. We’re proud of Bruce’s performance in the Tactical Optics division and we’re looking forward to more of his wins in 2010.”

FARMINGDALE, NY, Sunday June 14, 2009 – World Champion shooter, Bruce Piatt and his fellow teammates won the Two Man and Three Man Team events at the 2009 Sportsman Team Challenge, held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. Coming off his recent Bianchi Cup win, Bruce easily pulled off the hat trick to win the event three years in a row. Six events make up the competition consisting of Rifle, Combo, Pistol, Flush, Flurry and Mixed Bag requiring competitors to shoot at colorful aperture plates of varying sizes and shapes from different distances. As well as engaging aerial clay targets with shotguns. Accuracy, speed, dexterity and teamwork played a significant role to have achieved both wins shared with Robert Massey and Jim Clark Jr, two well-respected shooters.

After winning both events Bruce commented, "Winning the Three Man and Two Man National Titles for the third year in a row was definitely exciting and personally rewarding. The competition was as tough as always and the Texas weather was just as challenging. The mix between the quickly changing very bright sun and cloudy conditions had me bouncing between my Dude clear lenses and my Orange Plus. Here’s a perfect reason why a serious competitor should have two sets of SunBusters on hand. I’d walk to the line with both glasses ready to go. If the sun was out or clouds rolled in, I’d swap out my glasses in a second or two. At this level of competition, the right choice in equipment plays a big part towards a victory, that’s why I choose SunBuster products.”

SunBuster’s president Steve Asman said “Bruce’s hat trick coincides with him being sponsored by SunBuster the last three years. Our Sport Enhancement Eyewear lenses allow shooters to SEE Better, Shoot Better. This third win in a row proves again our glasses enhance shooters vision so they can concentrate on seeing the targets with no distortion or distraction, while providing the necessary protection shooters require.”
